The popular entertainment show TMZ refers to the “thirty mile zone” around Los Angeles where all major studios are located.  Bees have their own TMZ: they will forage for nectar within a three mile radius of the hive, which means that our bees have ample flora sources: Brookdale Park, Presby Iris Gardens, the VanVleck House, Eagle Rock Reservation, the Hilltop Reservation, and numerous other parks and gardens.  Even plants that we consider weeds, like Japanese knotweed and purple loosestrife, are major nectar producers- Essex County’s diverse floral sources result in a unique and delicious honey.  Several of our clients have mentioned that consuming local honey really helps when allergy time rolls around, since the honey contains local pollen.

We offer honey which is minimally processed: never heated above 100 degrees and filtered only to remove beeswax and other large particles.  Everything else goes into the jar.  We like to bottle in glass because it’s better for the environment - we will happily reuse your empty glass jar and offer a $1 credit on future honey purchases.

Despite its many floral sources, the nectar season in New Jersey is surprisingly short (April-July), and as a result, there is only so much honey that can be produced in Montclair; last year we bottled approximately 400 pounds.  We sell out every year.  If you’d like to be notified as soon as we bottle the honey, please let us know.

We offer several jar sizes, in 2022 we bottled a limited number of 34 ounce jars for power-users.  In addition to honey, we offer honey and beeswax soap, which further utilizes the products of our hives.  Like our honey, it’s handcrafted and minimally processed.  Our fragrance-free soap has become a favorite with clients with sensitive skin or whose skin is subject to harsh conditions, like cosmetologists.
